Frequently Asked Questions
Why is meditation important?
Our lives are busy, social media is demanding, keeping up with our families is a pressure cooker. Add self-care to that list and there is barely enough time in the day to do it all. Here's what I know to be true - 5 minutes of meditation every day will return 3 hours of clarity and productivity, and restore your sense of intuition. When you have these faculties working in good order, life returns to flow. And flow means less effort. Less effort means more ease. More ease means less anxiety. Less anxiety means more trust. More trust means everything is working according to a much bigger plan.
Will meditation help with anxiety?
Yes, provided that you approach your meditation practice with commitment and willingness. It's a practice, not a perfect solution.
Are meditation and mindfulness the same?
Yes and no. Meditation has eastern roots. It is connected to a larger system of spiritual beliefs, wisdom traditions and ancient languages. Mindfulness is a distilled version of meditation that focusses on the body and breath. It is a more clinical approach to meditation.
Can I practice meditation without guidance?
Yes. But having an experienced teacher helps make the journey shorter, more expansive and more focused.
What does meditation do to the brain?
Meditation helps to heal past and current trauma. Learning how to sit with uncomfortable thoughts is one of the skills meditation teaches. And when we sit with discomfort, we can also choose different ways to approach life's challenges. It's freeing to know we are not trapped by the past.
